Mazzucchelli to produce eco acetate sheet

New production process will reduce carbon emissions

Global specialty plastics provider Eastman has announced a collaboration with Mazzucchelli 1849, that will enable Mazzucchelli to produce and sell acetate sheet made from Eastman Acetate Renew.

Eastman Acetate Renew is a cellulose diacetate composed of 60 per cent biobased and 40 per cent certified recycled content.

Made through Eastman’s carbon renewal technology, the material is said to offer virgin-material performance, incorporating significant amounts of certified recycled content from eyewear production scrap, resulting in a significant reduction in greenhouse gases when compared to the traditional manufacturing process.

“Eastman Acetate Renew allows us to offer sustainable options to our customers,” said Giovanni Orsi Mazzucchelli, president and shareholder of family-owned Mazzucchelli. “Using Acetate Renew requires no performance sacrifice, meaning we can use it in our full range of premium designs.”
