Action on waste
After reducing our carbon footprint, reduction of waste is a key issue within the optical community. The waste hierarchy illustration, left, outlines how reducing what we use is the first step, saying no to excess packaging and single use items wherever possible.
Consumer demand to recycle frames and lenses is growing. Here is a list of companies that currently offer recyling:
- Recycline – spectacle frames
- Refactory – spectacle frames
- Terracycle – contact lenses
- MyGroup – plastics
