The Hakim Group returned with its second annual SPA (Share, Progress, Achieve) CPD event at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre in Coventry last month.
With a full-day CPD programme for dispensing opticians and optometrists alike, the event featured workshops, practical insights for everyday practice, and discussions covering a wide range of topics, including contact lenses, dry eye, multimodal imaging, glaucoma and hearing care.
Speakers from within the profession included Helen Tilley, Dr Keyur Patel, Alan Hawrami, Polly Dulley, Adrian Street and Marc Drake.
In addition, the event featured renowned external experts including Dutch biologist Dr Patrick Van Veen, who co-hosted alongside Dr Byki Huntjens, as well as Dr Samantha Strong, Rupal Lovell-Patel, and Dr Alicia Thompson – ABDO head of research and professional development – amongst others.
Claire Slade, head of professional advancement and governance at the Hakim Group, remarked: “SPA CPD reflects our unwavering commitment to the continuous professional development of optometry practitioners and the optical sector, delivered in a way that embodies the unique Hakim Group culture.
“Our goal was to create an event that fostered learning and sharing among peers in an interactive and engaging format. This year’s speakers perfectly embodied this vision, offering practical wisdom and forward-thinking insights that both educate and inspire,” Claire added.
Erica Hopwood, professional advancement manager at Hakim Group, said: “We carefully curated the HG SPA event to ensure every clinician had a variety of CPD sessions to choose from, allowing them to develop clinically along a path tailored to their individual needs.
“The event seamlessly combined academic enrichment with networking opportunities, all while celebrating the Hakim Group spirit throughout the day.”
