ABDO awards for distinguished academics

David and Linda receive their awards from past ABDO president, James Russell

David Pipe has been presented with Life Membership of ABDO in recognition of the major contribution he has made to the Association and to the dispensing profession over many years.

Presented with his award by past ABDO president, James Russell, David was commended for his input within the Association in his role as ABDO principal examiner in anatomy, distance learning tutor, and co-developer of the ABDO Delegated Functions course.

David’s dedication to the profession was also recognised – through his roles as senior and principal lecturer at City College, teaching student dispensing opticians, and co-writing the Ocular Anatomy and Histology, and Abnormal Ocular Conditions textbooks, which are both used as vital references for student dispensing opticians.

In addition, Linda Rapley has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of ABDO in recognition of the major contribution she has made to the Association and profession over many years.

Linda was commended for her dedication to optical education as senior lecturer at City College teaching student dispensing opticians for 20 years, her work as ABDO principal examiner in visual optics/refractive management, as a distance learning tutor and co-developer of the ABDO delegated functions course.

She was also recognised as co-writer of Ocular Anatomy and Histology, and Abnormal Ocular Conditions.
