Job description
The Prison Opticians Trust is a small charity that trains prisoners in optical skills. This helps them secure meaningful work post release, reducing their likelihood of re-offending and helping them reintegrate with the community.
We are seeking two Optical Trainers to work part time within two prisons – one in Kent and one in Surrey – providing hands-on training in optical retail to female prisoners. The establishments are for women aged 18 and over and have a strong focus on rehabilitation and ensuring women are prepared for release and resettlement.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in optics to make a positive impact on the lives of prisoners, equipping them with valuable skills and helping them to secure employment and reintegrate with the community. The role involves 2.5 days working on site per week.

Skills/Experience Required
Minimum 1 year of working in Optics
Good at building relationships with people from all backgrounds
Excellent Communicator
Numerically confident
IT confident with Google Drive and GMail
Organisation – must be able to keep track of all tasks handed down by the General Manager & ensure they are completed on time.
