Millie Fellows has been awarded the ABDO Medal of Excellence in recognition of her dedication to the Association and profession over many years.
A member of ABDO since 1994, Millie has worked for many years in practice and at regional level in both dispensing, management and professional support roles. She has been both secretary and chair of Oxford Local Optical Committee, where she has been a huge driving force in the recognition and inclusion of dispensing opticians.
Millie has worked as part of the primary care representative team negotiating and supporting the development and delivery of GOS contracts with the Buckinghamshire, Oxford, Berkshire Integrated Care Board, and as clinical non-executive director of the LOCSU Board serving also on the remuneration committee.
She has been both an ABDO local lead and regional lead for the South of England, and was involved with the regional lead re-structure.
“Colleagues have consistently commended Millie’s passion and dedication to advancing the profession and advocating for the role of dispensing opticians,” said ABDO president, Kevin Gutsell, on presenting Millie with her award. “She is a most deserving candidate for the ABDO Medal of Excellence.”
Millie said: “I am deeply honoured and immensely pleased to receive the ABDO Medal of Excellence, a recognition that means so much to me. I am incredibly grateful to all my colleagues sector wide who have supported me throughout my career; their encouragement and belief in me have made this achievement possible.”
