ABDO members, Hitesh Visavadia and Daniel Scott, have been shortlisted in this year’s Silmo/International Opticians Association – International Optician of the Year Award.
Chosen from a wide range of opticians around the world, nominated by colleagues and peers, this year’s two other finalists are Vitor Martins from Portugal and Phernell Walker from the USA.
As described in the shortlisting, “Hitesh Visavadia has built a thriving optical practice with over 30 years of excellence. A pioneer in specialty lens optics, Hitesh combines innovation with sustainability, offering advanced solutions and high-profile service. His entrepreneurial ventures extend globally, and his charitable initiatives, including eye camps in Africa and India, reflect his commitment to the profession and community”.
“I’m thrilled and honoured to be a finalist for this esteemed and international award,” Hitesh told Dispensing Optics. “Optics has been my life-long passion and it’s truly a joy to be recognised.”
Daniel Scott, known as the Eyewear Stylist, is described as having “revolutionised eyewear styling in the UK. His bespoke approach focuses on understanding clients’ needs to boost their confidence. With a private studio offering a premium experience, Daniel integrates Colour Analysis and sustainability into his practice. His unique business model promotes the role of dispensing opticians and supports local independent opticians globally”.
The winner will be announced during this year’s Silmo d’Or Awards Ceremony on Saturday 21 September.
