ABDO has published its new-look Annual Report for 2019, providing a pictorial overview of activities – as well as detailing the Association’s financial status.
Commenting on the publication, ABDO general secretary, Tony Garrett, said: “I hope you like the new layout and approach of the Annual Report. It has been designed to be easier to read, more dynamic in its reporting of what we do – and hopefully it conveys the very active and diverse ways in which your Association serves you as members and the profession as a whole.
“2019 was without doubt an action-packed year and the board, led by Clive Marchant, was involved in some key decision making,” continued Tony. “Whilst pushing on with our plans to grow and develop the profession, we have had to contend with the General Optical Council’s flawed and potentially damaging Education Strategic Review. This issue will clearly be at the forefront of our minds for some time to come.
“We have continued to seek members’ views on what you want and need. One major outcome has been the request for more management and business training. Plans were made to address this demand with a bespoke scheme for members in 2020.
“As I write this, the whole world has been shaken by Covid-19. I hope that you and your families stay safe and well and that, by the time of the next report, we are once again operating in a more normal world.”
