Simon Rodwell is to retire as secretary general of the Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers (ACLM) at the end of September after 25 years in the role.
Announcing Simon’s retirement, the ACLM stated: “Simon’s unwavering commitment and efforts have been instrumental in supporting the UK contact lens industry. His leadership has been particularly notable in navigating the challenges posed by Brexit, the Medical Device Regulation, and COVID pandemic.
“As the ACLM bids farewell to Simon, the organisation is looking to welcome new members under a restructured framework that will continue to drive the ACLM forward. This evolution aims to better represent the manufacturers of around 95 per cent of all contact lenses and lens care products sold in the UK.
“The ACLM Year Book Online will remain a valuable resource for all, and the organisation will maintain its focus on the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape in the UK and Europe.
“The ACLM will also continue its long-standing membership with Euromcontact, ensuring that the voice of contact lens manufacturers is heard in the wider European context.
“Richard Smith, chairman of the ACLM, will lead the organisation into this new chapter, ensuring that it adapts to the changing needs of the industry while upholding the high standards set by Simon Rodwell’s service.”
