The Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers (ACLM) Contact Lens Year Book will now be online only after many years being produced annually in print.
The move was precipitated, said the organisation, by a desire to reduce its carbon footprint – and consequently there will be no 2023 edition.
The Year Book Online (YBOL) will continue however – listing technical details for all the contact lenses, solutions and materials produced by ACLM member companies, and covering the overwhelming bulk of products available in the UK. The ACLM website is currently being modified so that all practitioners and students have full and free of charge access to the YBOL.
Once the re-designed access portal has been tested and is online, all existing users will need to re-register in order to get free and time-unlimited access. Anyone with a current direct debit may want to cancel it with their bank, although the ACLM will automatically delete all bank details, in line with GDPR principles.
In the meantime, there is still a small number of copies of the 2022 edition is available to purchase online from www.aclm.org.uk while stocks last.
