Invitations are open to join a group of 200 leading eyecare professionals across the globe by applying to become a Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA).
The BCLA Fellowship scheme recognises a BCLA member’s esteem in the field of contact lenses and the anterior eye. It allows them to use the postnominals FBCLA, highlighting their commitment to the Association and significant contributions they have made to eyecare.
Since the scheme was launched in 2006, more than 200 professionals from the international community of contact lens industry and practice have become BCLA Fellows, following portfolio and viva voce assessment.
To gain a Fellowship of the BCLA, members of the Association (excluding online and student members) must be awarded 50 points by the academic committee and subsequently satisfy the committee of their contact lens and/or anterior eye credentials in an oral assessment based on the evidence presented.
Fellowships will be presented at a UK event next June and later next year at BCLA Asia. Event dates and venues are still to be confirmed.
The deadline dates for submission are 31 March 2022 for the UK event and 31 May 2022 for BCLA Asia.
BCLA chief executive, Luke Stevens-Burt, said: “Our Fellowship programme aims to highlight the work of the leading eyecare professionals and their commitment to innovation, research and life-changing vision care. We look forward to many high quality applications and welcoming the latest intake of BCLA Fellows.”
