CooperVision has expanded its packaging operations capability with a new purpose-built 166,000 square-foot facility in Southampton.
The site will provide the space required for the addition of several new packaging lines over the next five years.
Since 2006, CooperVision has previously housed its packaging operations alongside its Distribution Centre at the company’s European head office in Segensworth, Fareham. However, additional space was needed to meet demand and provide adequate room for expansion in the future, the company stated. As a result of this relocation, Delta Park will now become a dedicated distribution facility.
The relocation significantly expands the company’s distribution and packaging capabilities in the UK, and has created 42 new positions in a variety of roles.
Jason Burden, operations director at CooperVision, said: “Customer service is a top priority for us and this investment in our infrastructure will enable us to meet the continued growth in demand and prepare ourselves for future expansion.”
To mark the official opening of CooperVision’s Mountpark facility, a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Dan McBride, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Cooper Companies and president of CooperVision, alongside the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Peter Baillie, took place on Monday 9 December 2019.
