Coventry SPA Day invitation

Workshops will provide CPD points for DOs and CLOs

The Hakim Group will host its second annual SPA (Share, Progress, Achieve) CPD event at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre in Coventry on 29 September.

The full-day programme, for which there is a fee, will offer 29 CPD points for dispensing opticians (DOs) and 22 for contact lens opticians via workshops.

Topics across the programme will include contact lenses, dry eye, multimodal imaging, glaucoma and hearing care with speakers including Helen Tilley, Dr Keyur Patel, Alan Hawrami, Polly Dulley, Adrian Street and Marc Drake.

Sessions with particular appeal for DOs include:

  • ‘Making facial measurements a reality’ with Dr Alicia Thompson
  • ‘DO today, tomorrow the world – opportunity knocks’ with Alex Webster and Dean Dunning

In a session titled ‘Real or no real’, researchers from UCLAN will discuss how to decipher what’s real or not real in the world of research papers.

Also presenting will be Dutch biologist, Dr Patrick Van Veen, who will co-host with Dr Byki Huntjens, Dr Samantha Strong and Rupal Lovell-Patel.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Claire Slade, head of professional advancement and governance at the Hakim Group, said: “Our goal is to cultivate an event that promotes learning and sharing among our peers in an interactive and engaging way. This year’s selection of speakers embodies this vision, providing a perfect blend of practical wisdom and forward-thinking perspectives to both educate and inspire. We have designed this forum to nurture a culture of learning and mutual exchange in a way which is unparalleled in our industry.”

Hakim Group’s professional advancement manager, Erica Hopwood, added: “We have attentively sculpted HG SPA to ensure that every clinician has a plethora of CPD sessions available to choose from, allowing them to clinically excel along a path that is uniquely tailored to the individual. All sessions available are sure to provide HG ‘Edutainment’, the only difficultly now is deciding which sessions you will attend.”
