DO apprenticeship talks at 100% Optical

Laura Stratton

After the success of the ‘Introduction to apprenticeships’ webinars held to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2025, ABDO College will be running apprenticeship talks at 100% Optical (1-3 March).

Taking place on the ABDO College stand F42 at 2pm on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 March, the talks will guide and inform prospective students and employers interested in this new pathway to become a dispensing optician. The key concepts behind apprenticeships will be introduced as well as the similarities and differences to traditional pathways.

Laura Stratton, ABDO College apprenticeships manager, said: “The world of education – and apprenticeships in particular – is constantly evolving. Our goal is to share our knowledge with employers and potential apprentices, equipping them with the information they need to make informed decisions about apprenticeships.

“Previously, the dispensing optician qualification has been delivered through a traditional route, which is either self or employer funded, but with the launch of this apprenticeship in 2024, the sector now has greater opportunities than ever before. We are excited to share these developments and help shape the future of optical education.”

Members of the ABDO College team will be available to discuss either route to the dispensing diploma, the contact lens diploma, and the optical assistant courses.

The ABDO College bookshop will also be back at 100% Optical this year, with free postage on all orders.
