Specsavers is once again getting behind National Inclusion Week (26 September to 2 October), which this year has the theme of ‘Time to act: the power of now’.
The importance and value of inclusion, signposting ways for people to be more inclusive in and out of work, as well as sharing stories from colleagues will form part of Specsavers’ work across the week – with a different focus for each day.
“We are a supporter of National Inclusion Week, and we are getting behind each day of the campaign to help colleagues focus on having an inclusive culture where everyone feels like they belong,” said Steven Evans, Specsavers lead for wellbeing and inclusion.
This has seen Specsavers already partner with Diversity in Retail to understand how it can continue to build an inclusive culture alongside ongoing support for its colleague network groups in the UK.
‘Specsavers’ Prism LGBTQIA+ network, the MenoTalk United through Menopause network, the Empowered Together women’s network, the embRACE ethnic minority network, and the neurodiversity network are making a difference to the lives of our colleagues and customers,” continued Steven. “In October, Specsavers’ colleague network groups are planning activity around Black History Month, Diwali, Dyslexia Awareness Week, Menopause Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
October will also see Specsavers launch a renewed global diversity and inclusion commitment in the UK, Canada, Northern Europe and in Australia and New Zealand, underpinned by a strategy to help the organisation continue to be an inclusive place to work.
“We’re excited to share our renewed commitment to building an inclusive culture with all of our colleagues globally during October, and to start helping everyone understand their role in creating an even more inclusive Specsavers,” concluded Steven.
