100% Optical is providing Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) with a platform to seek new supporters, volunteers and fundraisers at the three day event from 23-25 April at the ExCeL London.
VCHP general manager, David Brown, explained that each day there will be a different focus: “Come and find out how you can join the team at VCHP – perhaps just by volunteering once a month in your local area. The time which 100% Optical and our supporter, Transitions, have kindly donated will enable us to speak to delegates at the show about opening a new VCHP clinic, with an optometrist’s first hand experiences; about volunteering at an existing clinic, about fundraising and gifts in kind, and about the difficulties which homeless people experience in accessing eyecare.”
As one of the first major optical events for some time, VCHP is very keen to reach out to new supporters and to regain contact with businesses that have partnered the charity in the past.
“They’ll be plenty of people to talk to about getting involved and to hear how rewarding volunteering can be – especially in your local area,” added David.
Winners of Optoversity Challenge – a significant fundraiser for the charity – will be presented with their prizes by a number of optical companies at the event, with their travel costs provided by 100% Optical and EssilorLuxottica. The annual student competition is hosted by the early career training providers, Out of the Box Optics. Students who have not taken part in the competition before are encouraged to visit the Catwalk from 2-2.45pm on Saturday 23 April to learn about the 2023 event.
