Experienced contact lens professionals – Ros Mussa FBDO CL and Brad Parkes FBDO CL – will present an ABDO CPD webinar on ‘Healthy lids: managing blepharitis’ on Thursday 7 November from 7-8.30pm.
Drawing on her wealth of experience in setting up and successfully running dry eye clinics, Ros will discuss with Brad the aetiology and management of blepharitis. Delegates will learn why ocular surface health is important, the relationship between dry eye disease (DED) and blepharitis, and the practical aspects of how – and when – to use the various management options available in practice and at home.
Ros told DO Online: “As the lead on education at the Body Doctor, it is clear that we share with ABDO an ambition to educate and support clinicians to develop their scope of practice. Ros Mussa has more than 30 years’ experience in the profession and industry. In practice, she works as a contact lens optician (CLO) with a special interest in DED management. As a long-standing advocate for peer-to-peer learning and professional development, Ros combines working in practice with a variety of advisory, educational and professional services roles. She currently works with the Body Doctor as its learning and development manager, enhancing its CPD offering.
Brad Parkes qualified as a DO in 1990 and CLO in 1991. He opened and ran two Specsavers stores for 30 years before selling them in 2022. He has been a visiting lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University, a distance learning tutor for ABDO, an examiner for Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers, and is currently part of the vision sciences’ clinical teaching team at Aston University. He also has experience as a business coach and trainer.
