The Association of Optometrists (AOP) has added four new CPD sessions to the 100% Optical programme.
They include:
• A lecture on the material science innovations surrounding soft contact lenses with Dr Byki Huntjens and Richard Smith
• A session on what is meant by competence, how to work to it, and what that means for the future of optometric practice with Dr Peter Hampson and Kathy Jones
• A discussion about community eye care pathways for people with learning disabilities with Trevor Hunter and Grace McGill
• The Optical Academy: three early-career researchers presenting a summary of their current work to update practitioners on emerging research in their respective fields, including diabetic retinopathy and use of OCT in glaucoma assessment
Other highlights include a peer review on myopia management on all three days with Luan Henson, an eyecare professional consultant for Essilor, and a discussion workshop on the Monday in the Optical Academy on domiciliary clinical cases with Zetun Arif, domiciliary partner at Specsavers.
Dr Ian Beasley, AOP head of education said: “100% Optical’s education programme has been designed by the AOP with the GOC’s new CPD scheme in mind. With over 130 different sessions to choose from, world-leading experts brought in by the AOP and plenty of networking events throughout the show, 100% Optical provides the perfect opportunity for registrants to advance their career.”
The show runs 23-25 April at London’s ExCel Centre.
