Taking place on Sunday 3 November in Birmingham, Specsavers’ Professional Advancement Conference (PAC) will be open to all eyecare professionals, wherever they work.
The one-day event will feature CPD sessions for dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians, optometrists and optical assistants. There will also be audiology sessions at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre.
“It is a packed agenda offering rewarding CPD sessions, fantastic speakers and facilitators, as well as dozens of exhibitors,” said Grant Duncan, director of professional development at Specsavers.
The 30th PAC will offer 10 learning tracks, covering topics from future practice and clinical efficiency to vision and sensory loss.
Presbyopia, myopia management and anterior OCT are among the issues highlighted. Practical sessions include WOPEC, MECS and glaucoma.
Speakers include Professor Pearse Keane of Moorfields Eye Hospital on the use of AI in future practice, and Nishani Amerasinghe, president of the UK and Éire Glaucoma Society (UKEGS).
Consultant ophthalmic surgeon, Nishani Amerasinghe, will discuss glaucoma management and Professor Manohar Bance, chair of the British Cochlear Implant Group, will talk about gene therapy in audiology.
Grant added: “There is a phrase that we use about everyone benefiting from the rising tide. In the case of the PAC, it’s about supporting the professional development of the entire eye and ear health sectors which, in turn, speaks to Doug and Dame Mary Perkin’s mission to change lives. It’s why the PAC is open to all.”
