Frame designer Tom Davies is bringing together independent eyewear brands to stage the Great British Eyewear Show on 18 October in Birmingham’s famous Custard Factory, built by Alfie Bird in 1906 to produce Bird’s Custard.

In addition to the eyewear exhibition at the pop-up event, there’ll be interactive workshops on making acetate frame materials and frame design, CET accredited talks, a gin-tasting bar and an after-party.

“We were invited to a similar event in Chicago earlier this year and my rep said it was their favourite show in recent years,” said Tom. “I was chatting to another UK brand about the lack of events in the UK and thought: let’s put on a show.”

Amongst the participants will be Face à Face. David Bagnall, UK sales manager for the brand, said: “I cannot wait to present the beautiful new Face à Face collection. It’s been the longest time I’ve ever known without a show, and this will be a great opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with old friends.”

Marc Carpenter of Mac Eyewear said the company “jumped at the chance to be a part of this day – and very much hope that all of our customers will be able to attend.” The company will showcase its flagship lines: Coco Song, Ronit Furst, Pugnale and JF Rey.

Feb31st will be bringing “a little piece of Italy” to the show. “We can’t wait to see you there,” said Jason Robinson.
