Johnson & Johnson Vision is taking stapes to address the current issues with contact lens supply affecting eyecare practitioners in the UK – and globally.
This includes increasing staffing levels at distribution hubs, improving order status accuracy and simplifying its product portfolio.
A spokesperson told Dispensing Optics: “Like many manufacturers and retailers, Johnson & Johnson Vision is facing the impact of global supply challenges. We are proactively implementing several plans designed to improve supply and service levels. Our top priority remains ensuring our products are available for our partners and the millions of people around the globe who rely on us.”
The company went on to state that in 2023, it has “committed to increasing production as quickly as possible” and is undertaking the following steps:
• Proactively simplifying our portfolio where relevant in service of bringing new products to market;
• Increasing staffing levels in our distribution centres and contact centres;
• Improving the accuracy of order status information in our order centre;
• Developing internal systems and processes to improve accuracy of estimated delivery dates for delayed items; and
• Continuing to make significant investments in our supply chain across J&J Vision to meet increased demand.
“Any product delays are not an issue we take lightly. Our teams have been working tirelessly to minimise supply disruptions to ensure we can continue to make and deliver products to meet the needs of our valued customers, while also providing the best possible customer service.
