ABDO members are being offered a reduced delegate rate for Eyecare Glasgow, which takes place on 21 and 22 January at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow.
This year, the Eyecare Team has been working with Lorcan Butler from the Brain Tumour Charity – and has named the organiation as its Eyecare Charity for 2024.
“Lorcan has already been delivering CPD at many of our roadshows this year,” said Stuart Wellings, CEO of Eyecare Education, “so it was an obvious choice to continue that relationship and try and raise some money for them.”
Lorcan deliver CPD at the conference as part of a packed schedule with five CPD tracks – with education for dispensing opticians, contact lens opticians, optometrists and indpendent prescribers – a large exhibition and the Eyecare Awards, supported by Xeyex.
Stuart continued: “I really can’t wait for January as the show is packed with fun and education. We’re also working with Out of the Box Optics on a new student track to help raise more money for the Brain Tumour Charity. We see the students as the future custodians of our profession so want to get them involved and experience the conference early in their careers to help prepare them for qualified life.”
Lorcan commented: “The Brain Tumour Charity is delighted to be working with Eyecare Education in Glasgow in raising both awareness and funds for the charity. This is the only two-day optical event in Scotland and is extremely well attended. To have the opportunity to give a talk to the delegates and raise funds as a charity partner is amazing. We are extremely thankful and grateful to Eyecare Education for this fantastic opportunity.
“Thirty per cent of people with brain tumours experience vision problems. As healthcare professionals, we need to be able to detect, refer and look after these patients within our community on every step of their journey,” added Lorcan.
