The theme is ‘Make your eye moves’, promoting activities for children to reduce the risk of myopia and its progression.
A range of educational resources are on offer to professionals and parents, including videos, graphics and key facts.
Professor Padmaja Sankaridurg, head of the myopia programme at organisers the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI) said: “The eye health of our young matters more than ever before. COVID-19 has significantly raised the stakes and increased the burden of myopia. But there is hope, with much happening in research, product development and professional education to meet the myopia challenge.”
Lockdowns saw an increase in close-up activities and children spending less time outdoors, causing a spike in myopia prevalence, incidence and progression, BHVI says.
