Resources for National Eye Health Week 2019, taking place from 23-29 September, can now be downloaded from the Vision Matters campaign website.
This year’s campaign will again focus on a different theme each day of the week, including nutrition and the eye, sight after 60, screen fatigue and children’s eyecare with a focus on myopia control.
David Cartwright, chair of Eye Health UK, said: “Focusing on a different daily theme gives us a chance to keep refreshing our communications and reach out to some of those groups most at risk of avoidable sight loss.”
There will also be a media campaign incorporating eye health supplements in leading national newspapers and the publication of Vista, the Week’s official magazine.
ABDO member Ian Anderson, a trustee of Eye Health UK, added: “There are lots of ways you can show your support and promote positive eye health messages like hosting a low vision workshop, for instance. Or, why not hold an eye health awareness event or practice open day. Alternatively, you could work with a local employer to provide ‘eyecare in the workplace’ seminars looking at ways office workers can minimise symptoms of screen fatigue.”
