Brenda Rennie FBDO has been elected to be the next vice president of ABDO, and will succeed president-elect Kevin Gutsell in the role on 9 May.
A dispensing optician employed in independent practice, Brenda is a current ABDO board member, ABDO regional lead for Scotland, an ABDO examiner and has facilitated discussion workshops and peer discussions for ABDO and NHS Education for Scotland.
Commenting on her election, Brenda said: “I’m extremely excited to take on my new appointment as vice president of ABDO in May. Throughout my career, I have championed and promoted the work of ABDO both in practice and in my roles with local area optical committees, NES Optometry, the Scottish government and Optometry Scotland. These roles have provided me with a better understanding of the politics, provision and governance of eyecare.”
The next round of ABDO board nominations will open on 1 May.
