The Ophthalmic Dispensing team at Bradford College has completed its move into the college’s state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Centre (ATC).
The ATC, which already houses the Northern Dental Education Centre (NORDEC), is now home to Ophthalmic Dispensing and Contact Lenses courses at the college.
Within the ATC, there are rooms dedicated to ophthalmic teaching, as well as several clinical testing bays which provide a stimulating yet relaxed approach to learning.
Dean Dunning, programme leader for contact lenses and FdSc Ophthalmic Dispensing, said: “The Advanced Technology Centre gives us an excellent teaching environment for training dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians, and we have already had a great deal of positive feedback regarding the building from our students. We look forward to making this our home for many years to come.”
The ATC is part of the college’s University Centre dedicated to the provision of higher education.
Bradford College, which this year celebrated its 70th anniversary of delivering ophthalmic courses, provides both full-time and part-time courses in Ophthalmic Dispensing, as well as the Contact Lens Certificate.
Rob Rohu, lecturer at the College, added: “We have a very proud tradition of delivering outstanding education in Ophthalmic Dispensing. The ATC will allow us to continue this tradition, but also allow us to keep pace with new technologies in the future.”
