Matthew Stringer has been announced as the new technician for the Association of British Dispensing Opticians’ (ABDO) National Resource Centre (NRC) in Birmingham, its flagship education and examinations hub.
Mat has worked in optics for approaching 20 years with experience in optical manufacturing, optical management and training and development. He says, “I’m pleased to be offered the opportunity to work for ABDO at the NRC. It is a very exciting time for the NRC and I’m delighted to be a part of its growth and success, using my experience in optics to compliment the excellent service the NRC is already providing.”
Head of the NRC Phil Hall says, “We are delighted to welcome Mat to our team as our new technician at the NRC. Mat brings a wealth of optical experience with him which will only enhance the excellent professional service that we offer our delegates and customers when they visit us.”
ABDO’s NRC has been open less than a year and is already the go-to venue for examinations for a number of organisations and has hosted conferences, seminars, training, revision and CET courses. The venue also offers rooms for viva exams and smaller meetings, a fully functional glazing lab and 10 clinical bays equipped for refraction and contact lenses. The centre is available to businesses as well as those in the optical industry to hire for large and small meetings and events.
