I am sad to report that dispensing optician, Diarmid Macarthur, recently passed away unexpectedly.
Diarmid was known to many as the dispensing optician and owner of Look Opticians in Erskine, which he owned since 1986 until his recent retirement.
Diarmid was born in Campbleton and originally set up the practice in Erskine. It was there he met his wife Joan, who was working as a locum optometrist in the practice. The business thrived and the couple became a huge part of the local community, delivering quality care to many generations of local residents.
Diarmid was a regular at CPD events where his contributions were always insightful and relevant – and delivered with a sense of humour.
His talents were not limited to optics as Diarmid become an accomplished author in recent years. One of his great skills as a dispensing optician was in communication, and Diarmid believed he could transfer these skills into writing fiction. He was so very right and went on to publish six novels, with a seventh due to be published in September.
Diarmid was also an accomplished rower and a member of the local club in the town of Lochwinnoch.
Diarmid is survived by Joan and his daughters, Kirsty and Lindsay.
