We are sorry to report the death of Peter Swaby (aged 94) who passed away on 1 February 2021 after a short illness.
Peter practised as a dispensing optician in Lincoln for Curry & Paxton, and latterly Boots Opticians from 1955 to 1991. He then provided a low vision aid service for Lincoln and Grantham hospitals.
His role of showroom manager led to him supervising at least half a dozen trainee dispensing opticians – many of whom kept in touch with Peter after his retirement.
Peter carried out his duties in a calm, professional way – and built up a large and loyal patient base during his time there.
The Catholic church played a large part in Peter’s life, and our photo shows him with his wife Lily in 2014 receiving a greatly deserved Papal Award, a huge honour.
He will be sadly missed by his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
