A drug company executive raised £1,500 for Vision Care for Homeless People (VHCP) by swimming a stretch of the Thames.
Optical specialists Thea pharmaceuticals became a charitable partner of VHCP three years ago. The team has raised nearly £5,000 to fund many more eye examinations across the UK.
Mairead Heffernan, Thea’s head of training, UK & Ireland, took her family on a sponsored freestyle swim on a stretch of the river in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
“A group of us set out from one of the prettiest stretches, from Henley to Marlow and in two hours, covered 5.5km. It was quite a challenge but very enjoyable on such a significant river.
“The support was incredible and has brought VCHP to the attention of another group of people,” she said.
Thea pharmaceuticals work to ensure as many people as possible maintain healthy vision.
