Two special general meetings (SGMs) of the Association will be held during its 2019 Consultation Day with members, taking place on Wednesday 9 October at the National Resource Centre in Birmingham.
The purpose of the first SGM, of the Association, is to seek changes to ABDO’s Articles of Association.
“These changes will expand the pool of members eligible to become president, and allow for a reduction in the president’s workload,” explained ABDO president, Clive Marchant. “We hope that these changes will encourage and enable more members to come forward to seek election to the board, and consider progressing to president or chairman. It would also enable those outside of the board to take on a ceremonial presidential role.”
The second SGM, of the ABDO Benevolent Fund, will seek changes to the Trust Deed and Rules of the Fund in line with modern governance.
“All ABDO members are invited and welcome to attend the annual Consultation Day,” continued Clive, “which provides an opportunity to meet board members, the regional teams and ABDO staff to find out what’s going on in ABDO and what your Association is doing for you. It also provides members with a platform to express their views on our direction of travel.
“I hope that many of members will attend the Consultation Day and these very important special general meetings.”
Members who are unable to attend the SGMs can submit a proxy vote by clicking here. The deadline for returning the proxy voting form is 2.15pm on Monday 7 October 2019.
