Following the confirmation over the weekend that Monday 19 September will be a bank holiday to coincide with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, SightCare has decided to postpone its 2022 conference until early 2023.
John French, CEO of SightCare, said: “This was not an easy decision to make considering the proximity to the event and the many stakeholders involved, however, SightCare is acutely respectful of the need to allow its independent optical practice members, conference exhibitors, and event partners to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate her reign.
“SightCare is also conscious that with schools closing, restricted transport and its members’ desire to allow their staff to pay their respects, it would prove difficult for many of the delegates to attend the conference.
“SightCare wishes to thank its conference exhibitors and event partners for their full support in making this decision and plans to reschedule the conference in early 2023. SightCare is conscious that this decision may not suit everyone who has registered to attend on 18 and 19 September and wishes to apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.
“SightCare hopes that everyone will understand the unique circumstances the nation is facing at this sad time and their decision to postpone their conference.”
The conference will now take place on 29 and 30 January 2023.
