Dispensing Optics editor, Nicky Collinson, is joining the international line-up of judges for this year’s Silmo Paris d’Or Awards.
The first set of nominations have been revealed today and can be viewed on the Silmo website. Nominees in further categories will be announced in the coming days.
As previously reported, Silmo Paris will not take place this year; instead the show will go on the road next month – in Paris (3-4 October), Bordeaux (12 October), Rennes (19 October) and Lyon (26 October) in a new Silmo Hors Les Murs (Outside the Walls) concept. The show will also visit Copenhagen on 3 and 4 October.
The Paris pop-up will coincide with Paris Fashion Week and be situated in Le Jardin des Tuileries.
Commenting on the initiative, Silmo chairwoman Amélie Morel said: “A positive consequence of this unprecedented crisis is the Silmo Hors Les Murs event in Paris, presented in collaboration with Who’s Next, the fashion trade fair of reference. This marks an important step in the partnership with Première Classe that we began five years ago.
“Fashion Week is a key time for the two communities to gather. Stronger together, these complementary worlds will bring a new experience to visitors, who are seeking out solutions for 2021 now more than ever.”
At each regional event, Silmo Who’s Next and Première Classe will exhibit a selection from fashion and accessory brands alongside the latest creations and innovations from the optical and eyewear industry. Professionals from both sectors are expected to enjoy full access to events.
