Silmo Singapore hailed “state of the art”

Elaine Grisdale, IOA director of development, addresses Silmo Singapore

The first Silmo Academy by the IOA event wraps up in Singapore today (Friday 14 April). It attracted optical professionals, academics and trendsetters from around the world.

It brought together top global brands from the Paris show with major optics and eyewear companies from across Southeast Asia.

Elaine Grisdale, IOA director of development and ABDO head of professional services (pictured), described the event as a “state-of-the-art, avant garde and ground-breaking optical show which attracts professionals from around the world.”

She also praised “the synergy between Silmo and the IOA, the raison d’etre of which is to enhance and develop the optical profession around the world”.

The two-day conference ran alongside a three-day lecture series, with leading experts from around the world. These included Professor Mark Bullimore of the University of Houston, US, who outlined the latest trends in myopia management.

Ms Grisdale thanked Ken Tong, president of the Singapore Optometric Association and his team for their assistance on the programme. She announced a second Silmo Academy by the IOA is being planned for 2024.
