Spectacle Makers Charity offers three-year charity grant

The Spectacle Makers’ Charity has launched a new scheme for charities working in eye health or supporting people with sight loss. The grant is available to all working organisations and is worth £30,000.

Liz Shilling, chair of the Spectacle Makers’ Charity, explains the aim of this scheme: “We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to partner with a charity for three years to enable them to develop a longer-term project. This could be with any charitable organisation that improves the lives of visually impaired people educationally, culturally through arts or sport, or expanding life chances and opportunities.

“We look forward to seeing some different, interesting, and inspiring applications.”

Goalball UK, the charity responsible for developing the sport designed for those with visual impairment across the country, is the previous winner of a there-year grant.

CEO, Mark Winder, shared the impact it has had on achieving their goals: “We were proud to win a three-year grant, worth £30,000, in the summer of 2018. The partnership with the Spectacle Makers’ Charity has allowed us to develop our sport for people who are blind or partially sighted, in London and beyond.

“The relationship has allowed us to develop strong relationships within the sector and share our work with people we would not otherwise have met. It’s been great for us – it could be for you too.”

The application period is open from now until 28 February 2022, with funding expected to start by September 2022.
