Leading experts from across the globe will come together on Sunday 18 April for Virtual Perspectives 2021—a free one-day CET conference* focusing on the latest thinking and trends in contact lens science and education.
Part of CooperVision’s International Seminar Series, Virtual Perspectives 2021 will see keynote speakers sharing their perspectives across a range of topics under the theme of, ‘Contact lenses: today, tomorrow and beyond’.
Professor Nathan Efron and Professor Phillip Morgan will focus on the role of silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lenses and their place in meeting the needs of today’s contact lens wearers. Professor James Wolffsohn and Professor Lyndon Jones will discuss multifocal contact lenses and their role in enabling lifetime wear.
Myopia management will also be in the spotlight, with the release of the six-year clinical study results of CooperVision’s MiSight 1 day from Paul Chamberlain, director of research programmes, followed by a panel discussion on how these results can be used in practice.
Marcella McParland, senior director of professional services at CooperVision, will look at the impact of Covid-19 – and will be joined by a serial entrepreneur and subject matter experts to discuss the concept of whether tele-optometry is here to stay.
Alongside the virtual main stage sessions, delegates will be able to visit the Research Showcase Area and browse 30 scientific posters and papers. The Discussion Lounge is where visitors can interact with CooperVision representatives.
The virtual event will include simultaneous translation into a wide range of languages. The event platform also provides opportunities for peer-to-peer networking.
Krupa Patel, head of professional services at CooperVision, said: “CooperVision is excited to be bringing Virtual Perspectives 2021 to eyecare professionals across the UK, Ireland and so many other EMEA countries. We were keen to continue our highly successful International Seminar Series events from 2019 and a virtual conference allows us to do that.
“With topics covering myopia management, contact lens materials and tele-optometry and a programme that reflects learnings from the last year and the professional landscape going forwards, there will be something for everyone.”
Professor Nathan Efron commented: “I’m delighted to be a part of Virtual Perspectives 2021. With opportunities to attend clinical seminars and educational events so limited in recent times, the accessibility of this event gives so many the opportunity to hear the latest thinking across a range of key topics affecting contact lens practice today.”
