Optometry Scotland (OS) has welcomed a 4.5 per cent increase in fees for all GOS eye examinations undertaken on – or after – 1 April 2022 (including domiciliary visiting fees).
“This is after due consideration and in consultation with Optometry Scotland and is in alignment with recommendations made by the Doctors and Dentists Pay Review Body, which will see current GDS [general dental services] and GMS [general medical services] fees also uplifted by 4.5 per cent,” stated OS on its website.
“In addition to the uplift in GOS fees, we are also pleased to see that allowance values for optometrists and OMPs [ophthalmic medial practitioners] undertaking appropriate CPD, and grants to be paid to supervisors of pre-registration trainee optometrists, have also increased by 4.5%.
“We welcome these increases and thank the Scottish government for their commitment to delivering on our agreement and recognising our sector’s ongoing efforts in delivering the best possible community eyecare for the people of Scotland.”
