ABDO has been involved in supporting the trailblazer group in the development of the Level 6 Ophthalmic Dispensing Apprenticeship Standard and is confident the apprenticeship route will meet the same end point assessment standard as currently achieved.
The new and existing routes to registration are comparable in the knowledge, skills, and behaviours which reflect the GOC Learning Outcomes.
There has never before been such a good prospect for funding DO training for all employers. This will cover the majority of ophthalmic dispensing course and examination fees and will help to support the profession across the optical sector.
We strongly encourage you to provide feedback using the link below, to ensure the trailblazer group consider all views when finalising the standard.
